Well, were just about submerged here! Thinking of getting the horses snorkels and flippers.
It's like sodding winter with Nobby, mares and foals stabled and the three I've left out are lake (not puddle) hopping
The barns 6" under water and being pumped out. Nobby's box leaked water so he's had to be moved into one of the spare mare boxes and he's not impressed.
We have a big drainage ditch running along the top road to take the water away from our smaller collection ditches and it's lapping the road and spilling water back onto the land instead of taking it away.

No sleep tonight, on flood watch!
Best thing is they kept me on at work to monitor the flood situation in Doncaster but I bolted when I found out that I may be one of the casualties.
It's going to be a very long night!
Praying now for the rain to go away

Thanks Sue, I may have to take you up on that!
So far, so good but we have more water. My fields are lakes getting bigger. The river Don broke it's banks last night and huge areas all round Doncaster are flooded.
There is a reservoir at Ulley in Rotherham that has cracked big style and it looks imminent to breach. Engineers are planning to blow it and direct it thier way if it gets worse. If it goes the entire M18 and M1 will flood sending millions of gallons back into the Don....then I will really need to pray
21st Century and it comes to this.
I'm not sure who should be ashamed of themselves!

Phew!
This morning it is receding very slowly BUT the dikes are flowing the right way...that's off my fields instead of onto them. I caught the girls playing follow my leader splooshing though the water this morning completely oblivious to it all, Bless!
I took pics!
We're lucky really. There are many more in much worse state. The Don broke it's banks again in Doncaster this morning and flooded Sprotborough which is quite a big residential area. I know it's stopped raining now but we are suffering from the Ulley reservoir being pumped out. They are taking 4 million Litres out every hour and sending it down into the Don and it's that that's now finding it's way and threatening us!

Well, they seem to have sorted Ulley Res out now and hopefully stopped pumping the excess water down into the Don, although it has breached again this morning and added insult to injury in Bentley flooding just about every street. My friend had 2 horses turned out on 5 acres alongside the river up to 2 days ago when she moved them to higher ground. The field is 4 foot under water this morning!
My fields have started slowly to drain and the huge lake is splitting into big seperate puddles but they've forecast more rain for this weekend. I don't know how my nails are coping
