Here she is and isn't she absolutely wonderful. Tracey, I'm really thrilled to bits for you. Swift finally did us all proud!
She's gorgeous, and snowcap to boot!

The mad thing is Bess is a bay Lp roan and her last 3 foals (all to leopard spot stallions) have been chestnut snowcap/fewspot! What are the chances?

Hazarding a rough guess Tracey I would say Bess could be homozygous roan, which is what I think Image is.
Image was born a dark bay frosted hip/lace blanket. I have foal photos to prove. Infact she looked almost like the filly foal she has just had this year. Over the years she has LP roaned out leaving her with the fewspot appearance except with dark points, mane and tail but she does have the very noticable amber hoooves and having now foaled 11 babies to Nobby, my leopard I can almost guarantee she is homozygous. Every single foal she's had has shown characteristics and coat pattern. Some extremely loud and some started off minimal but quickly coloured out. Not one has stayed solid.
I suspect your Bess is the same and worth hanging on to.
I can't wait to see what Lily has to Swift now !
xx paula

You would think that wouldnt you Paula but Bess is by Capitall Luke out of an arab mare, so there is no chance that she is a homozygous roan, which makes it all the more surprising. Isnt that the lovely thing about appies though, despite all the theories and probabilities you just never know what you will end up with!

In that case Tracey, you certainly have been lucky with the 50-50 toss of the coin for Bess to throw her dominant copy of LP to all the foals she's produced. Clever Bess !
