After thinking what Trish mentioned a few weeks ago, joining the BHS and getting their insurance cover, I decided to have a look this morning. I was amazed to see that £56 a year gold membership covers all your horses for 10 million public liability.
I have been paying £80 a MONTH for my four! Now with an additional mare from France and another on the way, plus a foal, I am SO pleased to have discovered this.
I doubt it covers the death of your horse, but when you think about it, no amount of money covers the death of your beloved horses. I know that.
THANK YOU TRISH FOR PASSING THE INFO ON!

I've been with the BHS for many many years, mainly for the public liability insurance it provides too. peace of mind in this day and age where there are those ready to pounce to sue at the first opportunity that presents itself. The BHS insurance does only cover public liability though but also includes anyone handling or riding your horses on your behalf and even covers the ones you may have out on loan. Talking of Insurance, I rang NFU yesterday about Nobby's. He's just turned 16 and I wanted to know where I stood on the Vet Fees side of his cover. The majority of insurers transfer to a Veteran Policy at 17 which effectively ceases any vets fees claims for illness (leaving cover only in place for accident/injury) NFU have queried it with their underwriters for me and because he's been insured with them for some time then they will continue to cover his vets fees for all illness until he's 20 Now that's what I call service ! Rock on NFU !

I don't insure my horses for vets fees Paula, too expensive, although wish i had when I got Sho's £3500 vet bill last year!!
I know BHS only covers for public liability, but that's OK with me, as it covers all my horses, not just one, so saves me loadsa dosh.
Thats good news about NFU. |
