I have just adopted an oes he is 7 months and a darling.I have a very wet muddy back garden and I am fighting a losing battle on keeping him tidy. Any advice on how to keep his socks looking white instead of black lol!!! Also what is the best kind of grooming tools to use. I would be most grateful for your advice this is my dream dog who looks like a raga muffin at the minute!!! |

Hi Zoe, Welcome to the ownership brigade !
My, are you going to have fun finding out how to keep coats shipshape and it's not easy if you want to leave them in full coat.
He will need grooming daily including the dense undercoat. Miss it for any length of time and you will get knots on top of knots... or cheat and have him clipped LOL
It's difficult to keep the feet clean if left long, especially living on a farm as I do. My muck magnets know just where to find the worst kind of mud and favour horse pooh above all else!
Trim the hair in between his toes if he'll allow it and you can also neaten off the outside of the longest hair around his feet if you like. Maybe dip his feet in to a washing up bowl or bucket of clean water to wash the mud off. I often use lemon juice diluted in warm water to bleach the beard and hair on the muzzle as it tends to go brown but I wouldn't advise constant washing with shampoo as it will take the oil out of his coat.
You will find, like all us owned by bobtails, that it is probably best to put up with winter and be thankful we benefit when good weather is around
Now, we'd love to see some pictures of your boy and maybe his breeding would be nice?
